Additive manufacturing developments are happening rapidly and there are many great resources to learn more about this exciting new technology.
While at the Additive Manufacturing Conference, Travis Egan, Publisher of Additive Manufacturing Magazine joined IMTSTV to discuss some vital resources available to help professionals keep up with the growing industry.
Egan noted that Gardner Business Media has invested heavily in covering additive manufacturing during the past five years. Most recently, they launched Additive Manufacturing Magazine. More than simply a print publication, the magazine is actually an integrated media brand, including print and digital editions of the magazine, an e-newsletter, a strong Web presence at additivemanufacturing.media, the International Additive Manufacturing Award, and the Additive Manufacturing Conference.
In 2016, the Additive Manufacturing Conference will be a part of IMTS. During the 2015 conference, Egan and his colleagues surveyed attendees to determine which speakers to invite back for the 2016 event. They also were on the lookout for new industry and technology leaders who can deliver the cutting-edge information that conference attendees want.
Egan also highlighted the International Additive Manufacturing Award, which recognizes world-class innovation in additive manufacturing and includes a prize with a total value of $100,000. The 2016 award will be presented at METAV 2016 — 19th International Exhibition for Metalworking Technologies – held in Düsseldorf, Germany, February 23 - 27, 2016.
AMT and VDW–Verein Deutscher Werkzeugmaschinenfabriken (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association) partnered on the International Additive Manufacturing Award program in response to the rapidly changing landscape in manufacturing created by advances in additive technology. This award was created to encourage innovators to accelerate the technology's current availabilities while also creating new solutions to its challenges.
